Nina Johnson

Nina plays fiddle styles including Texas-style, bluegrass, old-time, and Celtic; as well as jazz and classical. She has been playing fiddle/violin since the age of 10. She started out learning fiddle music and attending fiddle competitions. At age 15, she won 2nd place in the Northwest Regional Fiddle Contest champion division, and placed in the top 10 in the National Fiddle Contest junior division.
Nina started a family band with her sister and mom, called Sylvie and Nina. They performed around the Flathead Valley for over ten years, playing at local restaurants, farmer’s markets, community events, weddings, concerts, dances, and more.
Currently she is in a jazz duo called Nina and Jordan, which has played at local events including dances for North End Swing. Nina and Jordan also double as Celtic duo, playing at festivals such as Montana Renaissance Festival in Red Lodge. Presently, Nina plays in FVCC’s ensembles and studies violin under Kyara Nelson while completing her music degree.
