Eric Holdhusen is a product of North Valley Music School. He started violin lessons at the age of four and picked up trumpet in the 7th grade with the guidance of Jenanne Solberg and Mark McCrady, two of the valley’s finest music educators. He earned his Bachelor of Music at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, studying under Dr. Timothy Mahr and Steven Amundson. While there, he performed and toured with the St. Olaf Orchestra, top jazz ensemble, and the St. Olaf Band, the latter of which he served as Vice President during his senior year. Following graduation, he moved back to the Flathead Valley, where he currently serves as Director of Orchestras at Flathead High School, the conductor and founder of the Flathead Valley Youth Symphony, and occasionally plays violin in the Glacier Symphony. When off the podium, Eric is usually mastering the art of the InstaPot, coaching the FHS tennis, or exploring our beautiful valley through running, climbing, biking, and skiing.
