Dan Kohnstamm

Dan Kohnstamm has been teaching at the North Valley Music School for the past eight years where he has been enjoying working with students on their piano and musical abilities. He studied piano at an early age with Michel Yuspeh, continued with Thomas Schumacher at the Juilliard Preparatory Division and received a BA in piano and organ performance from Beloit College in Beloit, Wisconsin, studying with Dr. Max Yount. After college, he studied with Alexander Fiorillo of Temple University and Tana Bawden of the Third Street Settlement School in New York City. Dan is nationally certified in piano pedagogy through the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) of Cincinnati, Ohio. He collaborates with many Whitefish High School band musicians for the District and State Music Festival held each spring with over thirty-five years experience with musical teens. He is a member of the Kalispell Area Music Teachers Association (KAMTA). Dan also serves as a church musician with the Glacier Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Kalispell and the First Presbyterian Church in Whitefish. He is a retired library media specialist, having served at the Whitefish High School from 1987-2021.
